Specifically IDENTIFYING THE SPECIFIC LEADERS IN AN INDUSTRY- by name , function and POWER!

The leaders of any industry can be deciphered - right down to the name of the responsible PERSON, group and/or functional responsibility.

We like to term this -- "WHOSE FAULT IS SUCCESS !???"

"When one treats people with benevolence, justice and righteousness, and reposes confidence in them, the army will be united in mind and all will be happy to serve their leaders."
Sun Tzu

Eight different companies (names shown at bottom of page and elsewhere) edges are shown represented by separate colors..The company in green is the profit leader followed by the company in yellow. Neither of these is the strongest at this point in time (1996). The most powerful short term are represented by red, green and blue. Long term the purple, yellow and blue are best.

Two levels of diagrams are often required to identify specific responsibility. This is a view of the top tier.

SUN RAY - Economic Value Map - EVA

The value delivery map at the left shows the high level positions of value add magnitude for eight corporations. Each different corporation is a separate color.
Power
- Overall alignment and economic value contribution of the entire team.
Market- Marketing head and team EVA contribution.
Investment- Financial Allocation head and/or committee EVA contribution.
Process Adaption- Process reengineering owners value delivery contribution.
Profit- Chief Operating Officer or President contribution.
Regeneration-Human Resources contribution (Org Learning and/or R&D ).
Additional specificity is shown below. The immediately following diagram are the same companies as above with additional refinement. The interpretation is accomplished in combination. The bottom of this page includes an animated graphic showing the combination of responsibilities depicted in the approach.
Value Cascades Downward and Accumulates Upward

Identity of the participants in the graphic.
Market=Marketing Team, Balance=CEO, Foresight=Finance Committee,Front Office =Marketing and Sales Mgmt, Back Office=Production and Supply, Revenue Priority=Sales Leader, Expense=CFO, Information Systems=CIO......
The company in RED is the marketing and price leader but not the cost leader. The inability to produce at lower production and supply cost prohibits the company in red from being the profit leader. The leadership of the red company is destined to be short lived as there is no learning or reengineering (top view). The production and supply cost leader is shown in the next set of participating companies from the same industry.

Careful! The colors are reused and the companies whose edges are represented here are different from those above. The overall cost leader(s) are shown as those with the strongest "Back Office" and there are several close contenders. HOWEVER, none of these companies contend for profit leadership because of severe structural weakness in the other competitive edge requirements.

Although not identified here the individual company is known and so it follows that the CEO, CFO, CIO, Human Resources Officer, Production Officer, Supply Officer and so on are all known by name. The contributions of each team to Economic Value Add (EVA) are clearly known. Most surprising is the ability to accomplish all this for any enterprise in any country. Most shocking is that no visitation is required. All is accomplished remotely!!
